I bought a 2021 G80 2.5T with 41,000 km from a dealer in Daegu for 38 million won. Here is what six months and 12,000 km taught me.

**The good.** The ride is the best of anything I have owned. Long trips to Busan leave me relaxed. The cabin is quiet, the seats are properly comfortable, and the highway driving assist actually steers through long bends.

**The not so good.** Fuel economy hovers around 9.5 km per litre in the city. The infotainment freezes once a month and needs a restart. Rear seat space is fine but not limousine-like, if that is what you expect from a "large" sedan.

**Running costs.** Two services at the dealer cost about 320,000 won each. Tyres are 21-inch and expensive; budget 800,000 won for a set. Insurance was 20 percent higher than my old Sonata.

**Would I buy again?** Yes, but I would look harder for a 3.5T AWD if I lived north of Seoul. The 2.5 is quick enough but the bigger engine is the one that feels like a Genesis should.
